About Ayanna J. Brown M.D.

Ayanna J Brown M.D. is double board certified in Adult Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.   Dr. Brown was raised locally in the Houston area and graduated from Cypress High School. She received a full academic scholarship to Prairie View A&M University graduating Cum Laude in her class. She then attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX and completed a General Psychiatry Residency in Los Angeles, CA at Charles R. Drew UCLA.  Dr. Brown later received her Postdoctoral Fellowship Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the world renowned Baylor College of Medicine and The Menninger Clinic.

​Dr. Brown has a natural way of relating to her patients. Her years of experience have allowed her to develop effective and individualized plans tailored to meet the needs of each patient at Brownstone Psychiatry. She has extensive experience working with several mental health conditions including but not limited to ADHD, Autism, Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Eating Disorders, Learning Disabilities, as well as Behavioral & Conduct Disorders.  Dr. Brown prides herself on being a mental health advocate whose passion is working with the family unit. Her belief is that the family system is the core of our communities functionality.

Before establishing Brownstone Psychiatry, Dr. Brown served as the Program Director for Adolescent Unit at a psychiatric facility and was in a group practice at Kingwood Psychiatry.  Dr. Brown has received numerous academic awards and is a member of the American Medical Association (AMA), American Psychiatric Association (APA), and Black Psychiatrists of America (BPA). She is also a member of Pace Youth, a non-profit organization supporting at risk youth.
