Ayanna J. Brown, MD, is double board certified in Adult Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. Raised in Houston, TX, she graduated Cum Laude on a full academic scholarship. After teaching sixth-grade science for a year, she was accepted into The University of Texas Medical Branch, where she earned her medical degree in 2004. Dr. Brown completed her general psychiatry residency at Charles R. Drew UCLA and a postdoctoral fellowship in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine and The Menninger Clinic.
With a strong ability to connect with her patients, Dr. Brown creates personalized treatment plans for a range of mental health conditions, from ADHD to schizophrenia. As a mental health advocate, she believes in the vital role that the family unit plays in the overall well-being of our community. Given the challenges presented in today's society, it is important to build a strong foundation that enables individuals to handle challenges as they arise. Brownstone Psychiatry is the tool you need to build that strong foundation.
Dr. Brown has received numerous awards for exemplary performance throughout her career, with one of her latest recognitions being named a Texas Top Doc. She is deeply committed to giving back to the community, supporting organizations such as PACE Youth, Big Dreams & Lil Wonders Christian Academy, PVAMU Endowment Program, and EMANICPET. Additionally, Dr. Brown is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, the Black Psychiatrists of America, and the National Medical Association.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Dr. Brown values spending time with her family and daughter, which reflects her belief in the importance of family therapy. She recognizes the dynamics and significance of family relationships, which inspired her journey into psychiatry and mental well-being.
