About Dr. Brown
I’m Dr. Ayanna J. Brown, a double board-certified psychiatrist in Adult Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. I was raised in Houston, Texas, and I’m deeply committed to serving children, teens, adults, and families throughout the community.

I graduated Cum Laude from Prairie View A&M University on a full academic scholarship and later earned my medical degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch. I completed my general psychiatry residency at Charles R. Drew University/UCLA in Los Angeles and fellowship training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine and The Menninger Clinic in Houston.

My approach to psychiatry is centered on treating the whole person, not simply managing a diagnosis. I work with a wide range of mental health concerns, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma-related conditions, OCD, schizophrenia, and other emotional or behavioral challenges. I believe the best care is collaborative and personalized, with patients and families actively involved in the treatment process.

Family relationships, daily environment, life experiences, and personal strengths all play an important role in mental wellness. My goal is to help patients better understand what they are experiencing, build practical coping skills, strengthen emotional resillience, and develop a treatment plan that supports lasting progress.
Throughout my career, I have been recognized for my work, including being named a Texas Top Doc. I also remain involved in professional organizations and community initiatives that support mental health, education, and opportunities for children and families.

Outside of my work, I love spending time with my family and the love of my life, my daughter. I also enjoy art, music, dancing, and experiencing Houston’s creative culture. One of the most meaningful parts of my work is simply spending time with my patients, building relationships, and watching individuals and families grow stronger.
