Douglas Chan is licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners as a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Supervisor for LPC Interns. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a Minor in Theology from the Abilene Christian University in 1998 and his Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology from the University Houston – Clear Lake in 2002.

Doug is known for a warm, relaxed, and comfortable approach to counseling. Doug is an Integrative Psychotherapist, which means that he utilizes a variety of orientations and therapies, according to the client’s individual needs. Doug’s approach involves genuine caring, acceptance, and non-judgment. Doug works with clients from a strength-based, positive, and affirming perspective.

​Doug’s passion is working with couples, families, children, and teens to help them create and maintain a satisfying relationship – understanding themselves and each other, honoring their differences, resolving conflicts and designing a future based on shared values. He uses dynamic forms of therapeutic approaches, in order to help clients uncover the boundless possibilities in their lives. His areas of specialization with emphasis on issues associated with trauma, physical and emotional abuse, sexual

abuse/assault, dating violence, social skills, stress management, parenting, communication with parents marriage and relationships, feeling overwhelmed, academic stress, anger management, communication with authority figures, bullying, conflicts with friends and family, self-esteem, self-inflicted violence (cutting), persistent feelings of anger, depression, hurt, loss, anxiety as well as hidden issues, Bipolar Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, ADD/ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder and Autism.

Doug had a long-term goal to become a therapist and a helping professional, and he considers himself to be blessed to be able to work in a profession that he truly loves and feels passionate about. Doug also notes that, “I consider it to be such a privilege to be invited into my clients’ inner lives, and to travel the journey with them through healing, change, and self-empowerment.”
